Welcome to the Gladstone South State School Community.
We acknowledge the Gooreng Gooreng people, and other traditional custodians of the lands on which we meet and pay our respects to the Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the state.
At Gladstone South State School, we work together with our parents and wider community to create a positive and friendly environment for all our learners.
To prepare for life in the 21st Century, we need to foster attitudes that ensure our students develop life long learning attributes. We focus on the development of literacy and numeracy whilst recognizing that skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, computer competency, life skill development and environmental responsibility are significant for our learners. The 2012 Teaching and Learning Audit Summary Report provides us with a clear set of actions to undertake to ensure our school continues to strive for and achieve excellence in educational outcomes for our students.
At South, we create a safe, tolerant and disciplined environment that encourages the development of individual skills as well as the notion of 'teamwork'. The 2013 School Discipline Audit Summary Report provides us with a clear set of actions to undertake to ensure our school continues to implement the most effective and supportive strategies in providing a safe and disciplined school environment.
Our goal is to nurture our students to prepare them to become active, reflective and responsible citizens.
We also recognize the importance of fostering an attitude of healthy lifestyles and encourage our students to participate in the Get Active program as well as providing a Breakfast Club and daily Fruit Break.
We are proud of our continued success of our students in a wide range of academic, cultural and sporting areas. We look forward to your support in your time at 'South' so your family can become part of our community of learners.
